Residences
The Southeast Works Residential Department provides housing opportunities for persons with developmental disabilities through IRA’s (Individual Residential Alternatives). This gives the residents the opportunity to live independently with their peers and promotes decision-making initiatives.
Residential services provide opportunities for each resident to achieve their own personal goals utilizing the person-centered process, which is driven by the resident’s interest, needs and characteristics. Each resident is encouraged to strive for independence, inclusion, individualization and productivity.
Staff supervision is available 24 hours a day to provide various levels of support and guidance to each participant. Staff is specifically trained to assist the residents with their activities of daily living skills which include: cooking, housekeeping, laundry, medication administration, personal hygiene, recreation and social skills. Transportation is provided to medical appointments, personal errands and recreation events.

Grant
The Grant Street IRA, located in Depew, NY is a single floor, ranch style house that was built and opened in August of 2006. The house was built to accommodate the 6 very unique ladies that live in it. The ladies that live in the IRA range from ages 31 to 63 and consist of some that require the use of a wheelchair. The location of the IRA is convenient for our ladies as it nestles in the “backyard” of the Southeast Works workshop. All of our ladies attend the workshop and this has helped promote their independence as they travel to and from “work,” on a daily basis either alone or with minimal supervision. We are also neighbors with the Lincoln Apartments and this has become a great situation for the houses to interact with one another. The Grant Street IRA is as warm, wonderful and special as the ladies who live in it.

Lincoln
The Lincoln House is an apartment building that houses fourteen individuals, both male and female. There are 11 apartments, 8 single and 3 double. We have a common area, which includes a library and game area. At most times, residents can be found playing games and socializing in the common area. Lincoln Apartment residents enjoy the choice of mingling in the common area or having time to themselves in their apartments. Lincoln also has a back patio, where residents can grill their dinners and sit at the picnic tables. Lincoln Apartments are also a hop, skip and jump from Southeast Works’ Workshop, which allows residents who are employed at the workshop to independently walk to and from their jobs. At Lincoln apartments our motto is, “We Laugh, We Respect,” and this is seen to be true by the smiles on our resident’s faces.
